Both on and off the court, Daniel Gafford has contributed in philanthropical endeavors that has made him stand out amongst his teammates, specifically during his time on the Washington Wizards. In 2023, following his contribution to planting cherry blossom trees in Ward 8, a low-socioeconomic community in Washington, D.C., Gafford was honored with the Dr. E.B. Henderson Team Award. The award recognized his community efforts during the 25th anniversary season of the Wizards’ rebranding.

Along with his team contributions, for Gafford, home is where his heart will always be. With a population of under twenty thousand, El Dorado, Arkansas will always be home for Daniel Gafford. Being a perfect example of never forgetting where your roots are, Gafford has always made it known where he is from and has shown pride in it. Last year, Gafford made an appearance at his hometowns local grocery store, Krogers. He surprised shoppers by buying their groceries, taking pictures, and spending time talking with them.
